I'm very eager to enter CDL training with Swift Transportation?
I just got a phone message from a recruiter, but want to plan very carefully for my return phone call. How best to approach the call, and impress upon him that I'm up to it, I can do it, and I'd give my everything to be their best driver? In spite of my lack of commercial driving experience and my less than best work history?

- When you are there a while, ask them for me why they call their company "Swift" when their slow putt putt trucks are clogging freeways nationwide.
- Swift Transport will hire you so don't worry. Those recruiters are paid good so you do not have to worry. They have a high turn over rate with Swift here in NC because my bro-in-law works there and people really get tired of the long distance travel. Swift is more concerned about your background check and driving record then your lack of experience. They want to make sure you can be covered as a driver by their company policy so relax, you got this one in the bag. Also, my in law said that Swift is one of the better companies. JB HUNT-run far away from them-they do not like to pay you.
- Good luck, driving for swift maybe a real challenge and you may not even qualify for the job, you would have to have most likely an extensive back ground check because swift does haul million dollar loads and they do have GPS tracking on all their trucks and loads. In regards to the first answer all trucks have had their vehicle speed set at a certain speed due to Several of the companies already have GSP and speed governors on their trucks and also follow a federal mandate limiting the number of hours a driver can drive within a 24 hour period.
- My boyfriend is currently in training with Swift and he hates it. He is out on the road for six weeks with a trainer. They are currently in California. He says that other than his experiences he's having, he is hearing others complain about the pay. We are from N.C. and his home terminal is in Greer, S.C. It took them almost a week after he had orientation to find him a trainer so he did nothing but sit in a hotel. When he finally got a trainer they went to Memphis but not for work, his trainer lives there and was moving, so my boyfriend was stuck in another hotel room clueless. All of this has made me pretty angry at the company especially when you have bills to pay. They give you advancements of $150.00 but they take it out of your check, and $150.00 will only go so far. Anyway just really look into it before you leap because if he had a choice he would have went somewhere completely different.
- I drove for 29 years ,now young person , this is a good way to get into the trucking world and get paid, all you have to do is to be yourself with the recuiter, be truthful about your past history, they will do a back ground check on you, they wiil train you and you will get some money to get started, after you get done and give Swift their time and pay back your loan you can then go to work where you want or buy your own ,hopethis help!
- Well, Dice Roll, I'd say they are already interested in you, so now the question is ARE YOU INTERESTED IN THEM? See, they are recruiting you, just like the Army would. You need to ask a few questions, #1What is the pay I get while training and does that include benefits? #2 Is the training locally? #3 How many people are in the cab with the instructor while learning the basic checks and driving ( my nephew went to a truck driving training for for a company and he went to Idaho and when he got there they had 4 people in the cab with the instructor, NOT GOOD, he dropped out the first day) #4 After training do i sign a contract stating how long I have to stay with the company and what is the length of time and how many raises do I get in that time? #5 How often will I be home if put on the long hauls? How many chances do I get to pass the CDL test and can I practice when I need to using their trucks? #6 what is their graduating percentage ? You see I have known a few people who have went to truck driving school over the yrs and these are what you need to ask for your benefit
