Why can't Dean Kamen's Segway transporter's technology be adapted to automobiles?

Is it the transfer of weight or would a lever pressing forward produce the same effect? Gear ratios (large gear making small gear to rotate much faster) could be utilized to provide the speed increase. His wheel chair (4 wheels) invention using gyroscope technology, too. Is your answer yes or no?

  1. It is used on hybrid cars. The segway uses a flywheel (gyroscope) to maintain stability. This isn't needed with a 4 wheel vehicle. Hybrids use a gas engine which uses a flywheel to to evenly spread and maintain torque and engine speed. All gas engines have a flywheel. Hybrids also use a computer controled sequential transmission and a computer controlled transmission for switching from one motor to the other at the appropriate times. The other engine on the hybrid, the electric motor also use flywheels for the same purpose. But as a free bonus the flywheel contributes to charging the batteries and use the brakes, also a sort of flywheel, to use braking friction to generate electricity. The principles and mechanics are basically the same. the segway just has a gyroscope and no gas engine. The wheels of the segway are also flywheels.
