We'd like to collect care package donations for soldiers - How can we get them shipped for free?
We would like to do a community service project collecting donations for care packages to be sent to our deployed soldiers and I remember seeing the postage fees waived and paid for by someone else like UPS/USPS ... can anyone help me find out how to do this? Thanks!

- Your best bet is to collect cash donations since civilians can't send care packages unless they are to a specific soldier. Give the cash you collect to the USO. They can do it so much more cost effectively because they buy in bulk. I am sure the people in uniform appreciate your support and effort! I think it is wonderful :)
- Another great agency is MarineParents.com They send out care packages to deployed Marines every month, and they're always looking for donations. There's no such thing as reduced or waived postal fees, unfortunately, but the packages are sent to APO's or FPO's, so the postal rate is the same as it would be for any package mailed to the continental US... no overseas postage required! Thanks for your support of our deployed troops! It means everything to them to get things from the States!
- Yeah, good luck with that. The only discount you can get is to ship them in flat rate boxes. The Post Office doesn't send care packages for free and UPS doesn't ship them at all. I've spent a pretty penny over the last 4 years sending care packages to my husband and his unit.
