How to find the person or the location by using IP address?

I find that my mail account has been accessed by some other person & I changed the password. But how to keep my mail secure? Is it possible to find any details of the peson (like location) from the IP address?

1. A few years ago it may have been, but nowadays most ISP's use IP addresses that go through their own proxy to protect the identity of their users. I live in Missouri, but running a search of my IP says I live in Virginia.

6. it cant be done by you . only ISPs can do it. i u do it it will be termed as hacking. ur ISP will fine u for doing this. SO BETTER DON"T DO IT.

8. yes u can take help frm ur sevice provider........as cyber laws are very strict.......he will definately trce out the location where d ip was assigned on dat particular date n time...........gud luck.
