living in Canada with this budget?
this is a monthly AFTER TAX FIGURE,1700 canadian dollars a month. You don't pay for rent but you pay for food and utilities for yourself. You also don't have a car, but you pay for public transport. Would this wage be ok to live on in every canadian city?

- That is more than enough. For EVERY Canadian city. Though, why don't you pay for rent? You could live in absolutely any Canadian city. A monthly buss pass even in toronto is something like $100 some-odd dollars.
- 1700$ a month for just food, public transport & bills is enough - but it won't leave much leftover for savings (maybe can put away a couple hundred if you really penny pinch)... *Since you don't pay for rent or have a car, the 1700$ goes much further...keep in mind the most expensive cities in Canada are: -Kelowna, BC -Vancouver, BC -Victoria, BC -Toronto, ON -Fort McMurray, AB -Calgary, AB -Whitehorse, YT -Yellowknife, NWT -Montreal, QC *& some of the cheaper towns to live in Canada are in these provinces: -Newfoundland -Saskatchewan -New Brunswick -Manitoba -Nova Scotia -Prince Edward Island ...p.s. that previous answer is wrong - you can't pay for rent in ANY canadian city on 1700$ a month...that barely covers a studio or single bedroom apt.'s month's rent in northern alberta!
- Im an old age pensioner living on less
- Just 2 years ago, I was living on $800/month AND had rent to pay. No problem with $1700
- That is oodles. But how do you manage not to have to pay for rent? In any case, that's lots for food, utilities and public transport, anywhere in Canada. It would be luxurious living in some parts of the country.
- If you don't have to pay rent or gas then of course, you should be fine! I think in Vancouver a month bus pass for Adults ranges from $90-$136 or somethine like that, depending on how many zones you want. And if you are only feeding one person you should have more than enough to cover food.
- With that kind of money I can get you a girl every night and you still will have plenty left for food, activities, utilities etc
- If you aren't paying rent you should be rather comfortable. However if you ARE paying rent, even for a one bedroom apartment you could find yourself in a bit of trouble. In Calgary for example 1 bedroom apartments range around $700-$1000 a month -- even for basement suites. Good luck!
