what's an alternative to transporting my car?

I am trying to move from new york to texas and the conditions don't seem drivable, it's an old car and I dont have much money to buy another one right away and sell this one at a later time. Is there a cheaper option of moving the car? transport companies give me a 1000 dollar quotes and it still takes about a month to arrive and I have to have a car in texas. any input appreciated.

2. if your driving you could get a uhal trailer for cheap and just pull it your self or try ups other than pulling it or paying some one to do it not much other choices
3. put it on a u-haul trailer and then drive the u-haul truck that pulls it. they are not that expensive
4. buy a trailer and pull it
5. If you have any stuff you need to rent a truck anyway. Just get a trailer and tow it along. It's not that much extra.
