How good is public transportation in Amsterdam?
I am thinking about going to Amsterdam for a week and was wondering if one needs to rent a car or can he rely on public transportation, like in London or Paris to do touriste stuff.
Public Comments
- its great
- Better than all the places you mentioned, and very commvenient airport connections.
- Public transportation if pretty good and, in any case, Amsterdam is a very difficult city to drive in. the streets tend to be narrow and the system of canals makes it very confusing for a foreigner. Luckily, Amsterdam is a very compact city and walking is usually easy.
- Trains from the airport to the city center work really well and cheap. In Amsterdam you won´t need to drive anywhere; you can get anywhere just walking. One wonderful way to visit Amsterdam is by bike; you can hire one and there´re great bike lanes which cross the whole city and are really respected by everybody. everything is at hand, really. Nice city, lucky you!! I wish I could come back!!
- Don't rent a car. The streets are narrow and there is a harsh mentality in traffic. Rent a bike (and lock) or use the tram and bus. You will get everywhere. You see more too.
