Is Public Transport becoming an ever increasing attractive option?
Are we becoming more and more inclined to take advantage of public transport, due to rocketing fuel prices and the inevitable outcome of gridlock on the roads? Is it now a more convenient option, with such initiatives as 'off the bus' ticketing now available, where customers can purchase bus tickets at their convenience from a variety of locations?

- no, buses on several routes still have to queue up in traffic and are rip off prices and the trains are overcrowded as it is and increase their prices above inflation each year. Whatever we do we get ripped off, that's just britain for you.
- its a bit like some futuristic film i saw once, where the masses were carted around like cattle from their workplaces to their living quarters and the powerful drove fancy vehicles wherever they wanted. it's not so futuristic though.
- Yup, think that's what happened in Singapore.
- i don't like public transport but only undergraund is cool, because it is fast, without go slow
- not since i got a scooter true cheap transport
- As far as it being an attractive option. NO! Where I live, the bus service remains poor, as does public transport in general. The buses NEVER run on time....
- I've rejected both cars and public transport and now cycle to work everyday which is the only real alternative.
- We will all be back on bicycles and horses soon with fuel prices anyway soon! Mmmm- then there`s the horse dung, and the methane, oh no - sorry sir !- it`s just not green enough, we will have to walk!
- No. I still have to stand queing in the rain and when a bus decides to come I always end up sitting (if I am lucky enough to get a seat) next to the local nutjob who stinks of marmite. Then the bus takes forever and I have to take 3 to get to where I want to go. I`ll take my Mercedes thanks.
- Get a push bike and cycle past all the cues of traffic and all the cues at the bus stops. and save money and get fitter too
- I'm lucky enough to live in a rural area (the Peak District) and have always worked shifts thus avoiding rush hour traffic, however, I recently had to drive into Manchester at 8am, nightmare! How people do that day in, day out is beyond me. I'm not a yokel, I was born and raised in inner city Manchester and hadn't realised how bad it had become. If I have to do it again I will consider the train, if I can have my own carriage and it drops me at the door. Regarding my journey, I did it in a Range Rover and was stared at like a skidmark on a hotel towel!
- Public transport will never by attractive to the majority of people until the fare prices are lowered drastically. Several years ago I stayed in Malta for a while the buses had two fare prices 20p and 50p depending on the distance travelled. I never waited more that a few minutes at a stop, the buses were always busy but there was aways room to get on, it was a great service. Would I use UK buses, park and ride may be, general service NO.
- Where I live the ONLY form of Transport to get to work is by Bus. And to travel to different locations I have to buy 2 Tickets - as the service from where I live is operated by a DIFFERENT company as to the who operates all the other services in the area.
