How do customs and duty fees work shipping from the US to Canada?
Hey, If I want to do online shopping in Canada, most of it comes through the states. I am confused as to how customs and duty fees work. Could you give me an example of what I might pay, if a pair of shoes is $90 + $10 shipping and handling? How much will it cost for me once the shoes arrive at my door?

- Hi, I don't know how your question ended up in the other-beauty section. :3 Canada has the Goods and Services Tax which is around 5% last I remember. And I think that there is a Provincial Tax I think. (I used to live in Calgary and can't remember for the sake of my life) And I've heard of the courier fee that the CP tacks on, which is around CAD $5, but I haven't noticed.
- I've shopped online before. Shipping and handling depends on where you buy things from. Some companies (or people if your shopping on ebay) wont charge shipping or handling. They package will go through customs to make sure that its legal! once it comes to your door you shouldn't have to pay for anything. i never have. I just accept it as if it were a package from my grandmother. Once it's in and accepted by your country you don't have to worry about a thing. EDIT! If your buying from Canada. The tax is 5% GST. For all of Canada, In Alberta, there is No provincial tax, the rest of Canada however does. (excpet the territories) I think the provincial tax is like 8% or something like that.
