What's the best part of Florida for going on holiday?
I'll be going with my boyfriend for two weeks, we won't be going clubbing but we will want to go to one or two theme parks. We haven't decided whether or not to rent a car (might be expensive?) and I was told International Drive was a good place to be for transport? But it looks really far away from beaches and I don't know if I want to compromise on that! Any suggestions? Thanks! x

- If you rent a car, it doesn't take too long to get to coco beach from Orlando- about an hour. International drive is good for transport if you don't hire a car. Hope you have a fab time!
- We have been to Daytona and Cocoa Beach while staying on International Drive but we always hire a car. If you prefer beach holidays though why not do it the other way around and stay at the beach and visit the theme parks on a day or two? It's almost impossible to get around Florida without a car but car hire is fairly cheap. You could just hire a car for a couple of days to travel back and forth to the theme parks of your choice. Have fun!
- If you prefer a beach holiday, than International Drive is not the place you'll want to be. Check out Sanibel Island or Anna Marie Island - if money isn't a problem. These are my favorite beaches but the hotels here aren't cheap. For a more economic beach trip - check out Clearwater, Treasure Island, Dayton Beach, Cocoa Beach, Ormond Beach If you want the beach to be next to something with a lot of interesting activities: St Augustine Beach - St Augustine is the oldest city in the country and it's a fascinating place to visit. They have ghost tours, history tours, and Old Spanish Fort ,the oldest school house in the country and a million other things. Plus right down the road they have a nice beach. Key West - Key west has tons to offer besides parties. They have an unusual history here too and its fun to immerse yourself in Key West living. Be sure to check out the cemeteries if you go here. Titusville - You have beaches all around (better than the ones in Titusville) but you'll also be right next to the Kennedy Space Center. This can be tons of fun, especially if they are doing a launch during the time of your vacation. You'll not want to miss that. You'll be close to the beach, close to better beaches, and still find plenty to do on days when you don't want to be at the beach. If you do chose to stay on International Drive - look into the B-Line, it's a toll road that will take you right to the beach.
- As far as the car rental goes, I'd like to help you find a place to rent from. Here's a few suggestions below or you can follow the link below in my resources. Have a great trip! - me and my boyfriend went to Florida in June for two weeks, we stayed on International Drive. We didn't do much clubbing either cos we went to a theme park or shopping early every morning. We didn't rent a car because the I-Ride Trolley and the Lynx bus will take you to wherever you want to go. Magic Kingdom and Universal Studios were the best theme parks in my opinion. You're so lucky, I'd just love to be goin back!
- You might look at the gulf coast. Anna Maria Island is a beautiful beach spot only 2-3 hours from Orlando. It is easy to enjoy the best of both worlds with a little planning.
- Cocoa Beach is about a half hour East of Orlando (Orlando is a huge city - square miles) and it is very nice but there really isn't much to do there. Stay away from Daytona if you want a nice holiday. The best beach is Clearwater near St. Petersberg/Tampa Bay. It's beautiful there (on the Gulf of Mexico). That's about an hour and a half southwest of Orlando down the 4 freeway. And beware - the 4 is the only freeway. All others are tolls that you pay anytime you go anywhere in the city, unless you are comfortable taking the streets.
