Location Transport

Do you take public transportation to work?

I can't afford car insurance cause I don't have job. I can't get to a job because I don't have a car. So I guess my only solution is to use public transportation. I'm kind of confused about how the routes work because I've never really used public transportation that often. Is there an easy way of figuring what bus/subway combination will get me to where I need to go? And what if it doesn't drop me near my place of work? Will I just have to walk?

  1. i was in this siuation about a year back. taking public transportation to work is really just time consuming. some routes are awesome and some just suck. best thing to do is go to your local transits website and check out something called a trip planner. for example i live in seattle i typed in seattle public transit into yahoo search. or seattle metro would be fine for my situation. if you know your starting point and ending point your local public transit should make your walk as short as possible.
  2. I am not sure where you live but for my city there are bus routes online at the bus site. I am sure that uses gather downtown somewhere in your city. You will probably need to wait at a bus stop and if its not on the route to your workplace, it will eventually go downtown (or where ever all the other buses gather) and from there you will need to board another bus that takes you on route to your workplace. Depending on where the bus stop is will determine how much you need to walk. You should also ask the busdriver for information as well. Taking public transportation is not bad at all-- its an inexpensive way to get to work and save the environment ;) Hope that helps!
