- Surprisingly it's possible, but at 3 hours and 4 buses (and a taxi!) each way I'd either rent a car for the day or find something else to do in san francisco personally. I've never been there (actually this is the first I've heard of the lighthouse and I've lived in the bay area for over 30 years) so I can't answer your question about how much time is enough. Hope it works out for you though.
- Pigeon Point Lighthouse is 40 minutes south of Half Moon Bay. While you can take public transportation to Half Moon Bay there is no public transportation directly to the lighthouse. You can get within 5 miles if you take Samtrans 15 from Half Moon Bay to Pescadero. 15 doesn't run on weekends. Your best bet is to rent a car for the day. The drive is much shorter than taking public transportation, you can take a more interesting route, you can stop along the coast to take in the vistas, and you won't be a slave to the transportation schedule.
