- San Francisco is very expensive, i live in this city, to buy a public transportation i recommend you buy a fast pass its 45 dollars per month it includes bus, bart, etc. To buy inexpensive lunches i'd go to the mission for authentic taquerias and the Clement or Irving St. for Asian food(near the golden gate bridge/park. Much cheaper than buying food at national parks or museums. Bring at least 400-600 bucks, unless you want to buy food at fancy places or buy souveniers or something. Well hope that helps, happy trip!
- you don't say how long you'll be there, but $3,000 sounds about right, to do it justice. Don't think that you have to carry so much cash. it's so easy to access your money with a bank card or traveler's checks. I live not far from there, and I know it's expensive to do anything there.
- $100 a day to be safe.
