Newark airport transportation to Manhattan?

What is the fastest (and cheapest) form of transportation from the Newark airport to Manhattan? I've never flown into that airport before. How much would it be for a cab? I'm not afraid of public transportation (trains, subways) if it's available.

  1. Check the site for the airport. They have a complete list of transport options.
  2. Definataly the Airtrain. Its cheap and fast enough, and cabs are expensive and will sit in traffic. Look for signs for it in the terminal when you get off your plane.
  3. A cab into Manhattan is about $65. But there is no hassle involved whatsoever.
  4. I'm not sure what the cost is for a cab from EWR to Manhattan, but you can take a NJ Transit train for a relatively cheap price, or take the PATH train. The NJ TRansit train from Newark Airport to New York Penn is only about 30 minutes, if that. They run every 20-30 minutes during the week. The following is the weekday schedule. http://www.njtransit.com/sf/sf_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=TrainSchedulesFrom The PATH takes 22 minutes and runs every 3 minutes to 30 minutes depending on the time of day. See the following link for details. http://www.panynj.gov/CommutingTravel/path/html/NWK_WTC_Weekday.html
  5. Will you stay in NJ? I ask as some NJ hotels provide free shuttles or shuttles service for as low as US$25.00 round trip. If so, be sure to ask the hotel if they have free shuttle service. Here are instructions for Newark Airport to Manhattan travel by rail which is the fastest and cheapest. The total cost will be under US$20.00 for using the Airtrain Newark and NJ Transit rail system and is less subject to delays from traffic or the weather. http://411newyork.org/guide/2007/04/17/newark-airport-to-new-york/ Taxis are around US$65.00 and can be as high as US$100.00 by waiting in traffic and from tolls collected while using I-95 route to get there. For as little as $US19 one-way (US$39 round trip), you can reserve a shuttle if your hotel does not provide one. http://411newyork.org/guide/2007/05/16/shuttles-for-new-york-city/ I wish you (and those with you) a safe trip to and from the Tri-State area.
