Location Transport

How do I get from Burlingame to San Jose airport using public transportation?

I'm from Michigan, moving to California in 3 weeks. I'm trying to find out if it's a good idea to take a job at San Jose, if you live in Burlingame without a car. Please be as specific as possible. I am willing to bike to the public transportation.

  1. caltrain goes, its still kind of a long commute, but it is very easy
  2. Ride your bike to the Caltrain station in Burlingame and get on the train- it goes right into San Jose, and you can take the light rail from the Caltrain Station to wherever your office is. If you do this every day, you should invest in a monthly rail pass, and get it endorsed with a bike stamp so you can carry your bike on the trains ( both Caltrain and the light rail trains are equipped to carry bikes) and ride them in bad weather. I used to live in San Jose, so I know this is possible to do. It's a fairly lengthy commute, however, unless you make a habit of taking the express trains which have limited stops. Caltrain also offers weekend rail service between San Francisco and Gilroy, a town about 30 minutes south of San Jose ( it's right on 101) and you can get light rail service down there as well. Hope this helps. Good luck with your move.
  3. Is your job at San Jose airport or close to San Jose Airport? If yes, you can take a caltrain from Burlingame to Santa Clara Caltrain Station. Get out of the train here and walk one-block to Coleman Ave at Brokaw Rd. You are right behind the airport at this time. If you want to go on the otherside, take a bus number 304 which goes on Coleman Ave, 44 goes on Delacruz blvd. If you want to go to terminals, then just take bus # 10 in front of the Caltrain station. You do not need to goto Coleman Ave here. Hope this helps. If you need more information, write your office address here and I will check back. You can actually check the VTA bus routes and light-rail routes on their website http://www.vta.org/
