Sharp constant pain on right side of body!?

My 16 year old daughter has had sharp constant pain on the right side of her body just below the rib cage and a few inches to the right of the galbladder. It is not her appendix, galbladder, ovaries the location of the pain doesnt actually house any organs it is an empty space, it is very frustrating came home from the ER last night at 1am the dr's are puzzled not sure what it could be has anyone experienced anything like this?

  1. I've been there. I've had chronic sharp pain on my right side for a couple years. The doctors don't know what it is other than possibly IBS and I do get cysts from time to time on my LEFT side... I understand your frustration. I've cried myself to sleep feeling crazy for having this unexplainable pain. I've had two laparoscopies to check for endometriosis and ovarian torsion and bowel obstruction and the doctors give up. They kept thinking it was my appendix and finally took it out. The pain still comes... It could be a torn muscle I suppose or anxiety causing physical pain. I didn't even know that was possible until recently. I also have fibromyalgia. Is her pain anywhere else at other times? I would talk to her doctor about pain management if the pain doesn't go away... Sorry not to have an answer but I thought I'd share my experience. (I'm 22) and have seen 12 doctors (they kept referring me to another specialist.) So far I've had 2 MRIs, 10 CT scans, 2 EEGs, a colonoscopy, a cardiac ultrasound, endoscopy, 2 laparoscopic surgeries, an EKG, a barium enema, 5 Pelvic Ultrasounds...to no avail... It can feel hopeless at times. I just remember my favorite quote: "Without a goal there can be no struggle, without a struggle there can be no victory" ~ Abraham Lincoln
