- Cost of living in Frisco is near the highest in California.
- I would say average, because San Francisco is a place to consider rental property. If you want to own, consider Pacific Beach, San Diego. Check out Bert Sperling's 'Best Places to Live' on the Web.
- Pretty good actually. The major cost of living in the Bay Area is housing. If you only have to pay property tax and maintenance and not a mortgage that frees up a lot of money. I loathe public transportation in San Francisco but a lot of people are quite content with it. Not having a car could potentially lower the cost of living but if you own a house or condo and it comes with parking it could be a wash as far as the costs of owning and maintaining a car and using public transportation. On the other hand, without a car you have a much lower lifestyle.
- You're not going to be able to have the best apartment, but you definitely could have a decent lifestyle. Rent can be quite high in the city, depending on where you live of course. You'll probably have to pay utilities too. You could definitely get a nice studio or a small apartment. You can also look into getting a roommate, of course that cuts costs and to some extent you have less worrying about stuff. Rent can be anywhere from $1000 to $3000 on average, but I know $3000 is a decent 2-3 bedroom remodeled apartment you probably don't need. You can also probably get an apartment cheaper because you don't need a garage and that cuts costs. We'll average $2400 for a single-person apartment with paid utilities. A bus pass in SF for adults for the Muni underground and street buses is $45, unless they raised the prices again. You can also consider City CarShare, but I don't think it's very reasonable in the long run. Muni is pretty good to me, so I would highly recommend using it. Taxis seem to be nonexistent in the city unless you call one, so keep that in mind. You're at $2445. You'll find the nightlife in the city is totally there - great places to go, and usually not that expensive. Food can also be super cheap in a city like this. Venture into a Chinese restaurant and you can get a huge plate of food for $5. Cuisine is definitely one of the best things San Francisco has to offer, with three-course French meals for $30 to the said Chinese food for $5. Also home to the finest restaurants in the world!
