Lets get the Chinese to run Sydney's trains?

Sack CityRail staff and let the Beijing Metro run CityRail. If you have used a subway in China you would be impressed how the Chinese can make public transport work more efficiently and cheaply in much larger cities than Sydney. We let the Chinese make our clothes. Now they write our computer programs. So would anybody shed any tears for CityRail if they manage our trains? Even the Russians can run their metros better.

  1. thats a good idea.
  2. We need a resolution quickly.Go for it.Weve got nothing to lose.
  3. never been to China, but I've been to hong kong, same story. very efficient train system. why is it that we can't get our act together here?
  4. It is a culture thing. Most Australians and Europeans do not like work - they want to do the minimum hours, put in minimum effort and have the maximum time off. The Chinese on the other hand is hard working, as long as they know they will be paid well, they won't mind working long hours. Now try to tell this to an Australian and he/she would say "I would rather have less money more leisure time".
  5. maybe there might be a deeper problem within aus public service - like the staff do not operate efficiently. I am not a howard supporter but workplace relations might result in employees actually working You may scoff but believe me publlic servants are a world to their own - they wouldn't hold down a private job for 5 minutes. i await my condemnation
  6. I think anyone could run City Rail better. In fact I reckon the little old lady down the road could run it more efficiently & with her eyes closed!!!!
  7. Im not racist so Im all for that - my 2 yr old could likely run the trains better than the morons who are currently in charge!
