How do i import a video from my VC to my PC?

VC=Video camera PC=Personal computer OK i put in the USB transporter thing and when i try to open the video in Window Movie Maker i get this message: E:\DCIM\200MOVIE\CLIP0003.AVI could not be imported. The required codec was not downloaded automatically because the Download codecs automatically check box is not selected in the Options dialog box.
