which city is best? thinking of moving?

i am living in southern california right now and want to start a new life. i am in my late twenties and work in a creative field. i love fall, diversity, lots of different industries and public transport is key. here are the contenders: san francisco, philadelphia, boston, chicago, providence, new york (tho my bf hates it) . what cities do you recommend?

2. Judging by your criteria, I'd definitely have Boston high on that list. Consider one of the surrounding cities and towns though as downtown Boston is expensive.
3. All the cities you picked in the East get mighty cold for a California Dreamer... Why public transport? Have you heard about the traffic? How about a town in southern Connecticut near a railway station? A lot of AIG execs live there... Must be nice... I'm from Baltimore, one of those not mentioned. Right on Chesapeake Bay, close to Philly, DC and three hours from NYC. They have a subway and light rail and the Metroliner to New York. And the seafood!!!
