Parking near canadian embassy in new york?
I am 108 mile away from new york city and need to get Canada visitor Visa. The nearest canada embassy is in New York. Address 1251 Ave. Of The Americas, New York,NY 10020. Since embassy open on week days only, i plan to reach there before 8 PM by car, park, get Visa and attend my work at lunch. Lots of people at yahoo answer suggesting not to use car in NY. But i am seeing some options as i am not much familiar with NY public transport (metro, bus)...........Could i get some parking (cheaper) near embassy or some one could suggst more better way to reach there on time. I stay near Philadelphia.... Thanks i meant reach there before 8 AM in morning Thanks much for your suggestion. I was a bit afraid till the last moment but still i decided to take my car there. I left 5:00 AM in the morning and entered NY (Linchon Tunnle) around 7:00 AM. This is absolutely right that there is good traffic in NY but i still managed to reach Embassy at 7:15. parked the car at 8Th Ave Luckily i enjoyed early bird special at saved on parking fee. Now i am much familar with NY Traffic and cheap Parking places there. Thanks Much

- If you drive up, park the car at the Port Authority parking deck and walk. Driving in ny is tough and parking is not cheap, no matter where you go.
- Jesse, please don't drive to New York City, because traffic here is a nightmare, especailly at 8am. What you can do is park you car in New Jersey and take train into city. There is a parking facility near the Trenton train station, where you can get NJ Transit's Northeast Corridor Line from there to Penn Station New York. The facility is metered and its cheap, at about $3 to $6 for the day. Once you're in New York City, you can take the subway to your final destination. Here how to get from Penn Station to the Canadian Consulate. Step 1: from Penn Station, take the uptown (northbound) #1, 2, and 3 train (Red Line on the subway map) to Times Square. Step 2: at Times Square, transfer upstairs to the "N", "R" or "W" lines (Yellow Line). Take the uptown (northbound) train from Times Square to 49th Street. Step 3: at 49th Street, exit the subway and walk a block east along 49th Street from the 7th Avenue (where the subway station is located) to 1251 6th Avenue (Avenue of the Americas). The Canadian Consulate is inside the Rockefeller Center complex. The fare on the subway is $2 each way, while the fare on the NJ Transit is $18 each way. I hope this information is very helpful. Good luck Native New Yorker
