vw transporter t5 1.9tdi 104 fuel economy?

Hello, i am thinking of buying the fore mentioned transporter, but i was wondering what the true fuel consumption figures were? i have heard that they are very good. In the latest review iv seen 52 mpg. But in the VW site it only reads about 37 mpg? Any one have one, who could give me some true figures please? Thank you.

1. you cant go wrong with a Tdi motor ; )
2. I think the review you read was being optimistic when quoting 52mpg, mid 30's/40 unless you do lots of motorway or A road running is more realistic. Don't know if you intend to lug heavy weight around in the van but if you are I would strongly suggest you pay a bit more and go for the 2.5 - 5 cylinder motor in either 130 or 174 BHP, the latter being a real flying machine. Providing they are regularly serviced the VW T5 in my opinion is the best van of its class on the road today. Reliable and durable and built to last. Good luck, Cheers Gizz.
3. The 37 would be more in line to the truth....because they are basically a box on wheels. Besides the gas pots got about 22 at best. Carburated(F.I. even worse)
