San Francisco Hotels and Public Transport?
Can you help me? Making our first trip to San Francisco next month and have been advised that driving and parking around the centre is not good. I am looking for a medium priced hotel just outside the centre with easy parking and close to a public transport link to places of interest. we will be travelling up by car from Las Vegas. Thanks for looking - James jamesawild@yahoo.co.uk .

- I would suggest staying around Pinole California. You can drive to El Cerrito BART and take the BART train into the city. Once in the city, you can get around via MUNI trains and street cars. Check hotels.com for hotels around there. I do not suggest staying in Richmond,Oakland, or El Sobrante.
- hey i got my hotel on this website last year when i went travelling around all of america! i thought this website had the best selection and it was easy to navigate too! hope this helps! http://www.twenga.co.uk/cities/hotel-san-francisco-11711.html
- As I understand it, from the answers to a similar question which I asked, there are trains running from San Jose to San Francisco on a regular basis. You'd likely get better hotel rates there, as well.
- I'm guessing you'd rather stay in the city, just not close to downtown, as opposed to being far outside the city. The Holiday Inn on Van Ness is reasonably priced, is on a street where many bus lines go, and is just around the corner from the cable car, where you can connect to the line that goes to Fisherman's Wharf. It also has its own parking lot, although of course you'll be paying. The nice thing is that you'll have in and out privileges. http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hotel/sfogg/transportation
