Location Transport

Late night Greyhound bus... How to pick up tickets, get on the bus, etc?

My bus leaves at 9:30 at night, and the station is open from 10-2 or so. So, I have to go to the station at some point and get the tickets before hand, during their hours? Right? And when I bought the ticket online, the website said "In cases where the departure location is not open, the driver may transport the passenger to the next open station to issue the ticket." What does that MEAN? Anything else I should know? I'm 18 and female, but I'm travelling with a male companion. Who is tall and large. I've heard there can be scary people.

  1. You can buy the ticket ahead of time or if you cannot do that- you can buy your ticket at the next stop down the road where there is a ticket agent. 90% of all people on the bus are nice and decent people - as with any large group of people you could meet some not so nice. Stick to your companion and you will be fine. If you go to or through a big city - dont leave the bus station at night alone!! Keep a good hold on your purse in the station and on the bus.
  2. I assume this means the driver will let you on, and at the next open station, they will print out the ticket for you. I once had to get on at a closed station, I already had my ticket but i had to get my luggage checked at the next station, they let me put it below but without tags. If you have a big guy you have nothing to worry about. Even without one, it wouldn't be the end of the world. Like the other person said, most people on the bus are normal. And even the ones that aren't are mostly harmless. There are too many people around, passengers and employees, for much bad to happen, and unruly passengers can get thrown off the bus.
