Using public transport, is there any way to get from Oakland, CA to San Francisco?
The question is pretty self-explanatory. I'm super broke right now and tomorrow I need to get to SF for as little as possible.

- BART; maybe you can beg, streal or borrow the fare.
- BART. take virtually any line on a westbound train. try this link. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Oakland,+CA&daddr=San+Francisco,+California&geocode=%3BFVxnQAId_Ae0-A&hl=en&mra=cc&dirflg=r&sll=37.786725,-122.316971&sspn=0.158455,0.363922&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=12&start=0 You can change the addresses or add destinations and it will find public transportation for you.
- For about $5 and in about 10 minutes via BART.
- Or $3.50 on AC Transit. , You can find out all your options at 511.org. Edit: Depending on where in Oakland you're starting from (and where in San Francisco you're going to,) buses can be pretty quick (and in a few cases far cleaner than BART,) and the ferry can be the fastest way.
- Bart is the only way from Oakland to SF, it will cost you about $5 or more. Two years ago it cost me $5 to get from Oakland airport to The Mission. Don't know how much it will cost now...
- you can take the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) - which is kind of like a subway. fastest and cleanest. You can take the bus - which is cheapest, but slow and dirty and often crowded You can take the East Bay Ferry - slowest, least convenient, but kind of cool
- Your best bet would be BART.
- The options are two fold, either BART for about $5 each way depending upon which station you use or AC Transit Transbay Express Bus for about $4 each way from several locations. Check the AC Transit N line from East Oakland, W or O From Alameada/West Oakland and C or B from North Oakland. Good Luck!
