Would it be possible to install neon lights in and under a 1978 vw transporter?

- Sure. Check the nearest Autozone or whatever - they now carry short neon lights you can wire in to any car. No reason you couldn't do that or a lot more to a transporter. Why you would want to is a whole different question. :)
- pep boys, kragen, autozone.
- Neon lights are a universal installation. You pretty much buy a kit and its up to you to install them correctly. The other question you must ask yourself is why you would do such a dumb thing?
- Like everyone else, the answer is yes.. BUT.. dont forget that your engine and exhaust system is in the rear of the car and it gets might hot back there. Hotter then most cars since not only is it the engine exhaust, it is also the discharge of the cooling air from the exterior of the engine. Bottom line.. test out some locations to see if the plastic will melt AND remember to leave room to do maint. activities, drop the engine, and jack the car up using the jack lugs.. (there is not a lot of clearance in some of those areas. .
- yes
- Yes,.kits are available. Go to this site for more details http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/1978/VW/Vanagon/LED-Neon-Lights/ However, most of these kits are universal and will be able to work on a transporter. see also http://www.customstreetdesigns.com/neon_lighting.htm .
- Nothing is impossible (or so they say). But why would you want to mess up a nice transporter with this type of trashy bling
