What is the best way of transportation from Tampa airport to Anna Maria Island in Florida?

We're meeting people at Anna Maria island that already have a car so we need a one way to get there. We fly into Tampa airport. Any suggestions would be greatly apprecaited. Thanks.

1. There is only one way... rent a car and drive it.
2. Take Super Shuttle or one of the other shuttle companies to Anna Maria Island. If you're only going to be there for a few days, it might be cheaper to rent a car. There's no public transportation between Hillsborough County, where Tampa is, and Manatee County, where Anna Maria Island is.
