Rome public transport?

Can anyone pls tell me How does it work in Rome? For example, in Paris, we have tickets that are valid for one whole day, that we can use on both buses and metros. Any idea how much does it cost from both Fiumicino & Ciampino airports to the center? I'm considering taking the Hotel shuttle which costs 12 euros/person. Is it worthwhile or public transports are cheaper? If anyone can give detailed information on the public transports in Rome, I'll be totally grateful. Thanks. :)

  3. agree that 12 euros for a Hotel shuttle is not so much, but there is cheaper. From Fiumicino: the train FR1, direction Fara Sabina or Poggio Mirteto, makes many stops in Rome (Roma Ostiense, Roma Trastevere, Roma Tuscolana, Roma Tiburtina...) from Ostiense or Tiburtina you ca take the subway B, from Tuscolana the A. The FR1 costs 5,50 euros. Don't take the other train Leonardo Express which goes to Termini, but is really too expensive (11 euros!) From Ciampino: a bus ATRAL (public service) to the subway station Anagnina (1,20 euros), then the subway line A. Some private shuttles go to Termini, but they are slow and not very cheap (8-10 euros). The tickets are valid for one or more journeys, no more than 75 minutes since the stamping (BIT, 1 euro), for the whole day till midnight (BIG, 4 euros), for three days till the midnight of the third (BTI, 11 euros). With all tickets you can go in buses, subways and local trains, in the limits marked in red in this map http://www.atac.roma.it/ It is a big extension, but unfortunately it doesn't contain the two airports. Only condition: with a BIT in 75 minutes you can take any buses and trains you want, but just a journey in the subway. You can change the lines remaining inside, but if you go out you can't come back in (even you can always take buses and local trains).
