Is the G1 license age requirement changing from 16 to 18 in Ontario as of August/Sep. 2009?

I keep hearing rumours about this but cannot find official information on the web at the moment and cannot reach Ministry of Transportation representatives on the phone.

1. I seriously doubt it. There would ample notice otherwise. (Like there was back when they introduced graduated licencing in 1994.) Maybe you're hearing about different restrictions? (See article linked below.) I think that got scrapped.
