Location Transport

If I get stationed overseas, does the Air Force pay to transport my car?

Like transatlantic trip to Europe? Or do I have to pay to have my car transported? And if so, how much I'm I looking at?

  1. Yes the goverment will pay to have your vehicle shipped if they change your duty station.
  2. Depends on whether you have the rank for them to do so. As I recall, you need to be an E-4, with two years in service for the government to ship it.
  3. Yes if it is authorized then the military will pay for the shipment of your vehicle to that location. You will be responsible in getting it to the shipping location and then picking it up when it arrives. You will need a letter from your bank if it is financed approving it to go overseas. You will also need a copy of your orders, registration and insurance.
  4. Yes
  5. Yes, if a car is authorized. But you will have to drive your car to a US Port ( New jersey, New Orleans, Oakland, cali ) to ship it. And when you come back, you will have to ship your car about a month early to make sure its in the states, when you get here, then you have to go to the port and pick it up. There are some bases you cannot take a car to, Japan, Korea and some others. In europe, you can generally take it anywhere.
  6. Go talk to TMO. They will provide you all the information you need.
  7. Yes, the Air Force (all military branches) will pay to have your vehicle transported to an overseas station. Since you are not allowed to have a private vehicle in a combat zone, that is the only exception to having it transported at no cost to you.
  8. when authorized you can ship ONE POV at gov't expense.
