Sydney transport: Airport---Circular Quay?

Hi, I looked up the fare for a return trip from Sydney domestic airport to Circular Quay and its $22.50!! (I looked it up on the CityRail site) Seems a bit over priced. Although I'm from S.A and its alot cheaper here to catch public transport...! Anyway, Because there is 2 of us travelling, Its gonna cost $45 just to see the city. I'm wondering if there are any cheaper alternatives? Thanks

  1. The Rail service from the Airport to the City is very expensive (compared to the rest of the Suburban Network) The reason being that the infrastructure is privately owned, and they can charge whatever they like!!!!. An alternative would be to get a Taxi from the Airport to Mascot, $5.00 approx, then a bus to the City. Another way is to check with passengers at the cab rank and ask them if they want to share cost of cab to the City. Hell of a lot cheaper than $45. Good Luck
  2. Shuttle bus to city hotels Travelpass on buses which u can use on buses, trains & ferries
  3. To get an idea of the cost of a taxi use this taxi meter http://www.worldtaximeter.com/sydney/Liver/Airport Book a cab online http://www.taxiscombined.com.au/index.htm
  4. If you take the cab, i think it'll cost around $25- $30. It's just like that with airport, it's not tickets they call it, it's 'airport pass' which quadruples the normal fee.
