Need help for a short Sydney trip?
Well I am going to Sydney for a day next week with my 7 month old son..And I need help as I be using public transport. So I need to know what train station stop I need to get off as I be catching it from the airport. I want to see the major attractions like the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House and basically the main part of Sydney and I want to go to the shops too..Thanks.

- get off at Circular Quay Station
- Your best bet would be to book a tour, that way you will see more and it will be less stressful with a baby. Contact the airline you are travelling with for advice and a booking. Don't try to attempt to see all these things on your own.
- if you want to see the best angles of the harbour bridge and opera house, definatly your best bet would be to jump of a Ferry. You can get off circular quay train station and right there is Circular Quay Ferry/ Catch it to Darling Harbour. If you get off at Milson's point you can go to luna park! Theres this cute photo booth inside luna park. You put in like $6 and you can add the harbour bridge in the background and take a pic with ur bubby =) (thats what i did!) If you get off at darling harbour, you can go to the sydney acquarum and the wildlife park, they are next door to each other, right on Darling Harbour in Sydneythey have combo day passes. (thats if you want something like adventure). http://www.sydneywildlifeworld.com.au/ Grab a map of sydney city, it will have all train station map locations on it.
- go to macathur station then catch train to u know where
- So far you have some good answers but I'll give you some more practical advice here. Firstly as the airport stations are privately owned they charge a premium to use them (stupid I know) on top of the normal train fair. Also weekday tickets before 9am cost more than after 9am, it's a peak rate, on weekends the lower rate applies. If you don't want to catch a train there is a bus from the airport to the city as well. If catching a train make sure you catch the City train, they may also announce City Circle which is where Circular Quay e.t.c are. On train you have single and return tickets, a return ticket is only valid until 4am the next day. As has been mentioned Circular Quay station gets you to the Harbour Bridge, Opera House, The Rocks (on Saturdays they have the rocks market) and the ferry terminals. For shopping I'd say get off at Town Hall or St James stations as they have access to Hyde Park, Pitt St Mall and the QVB (Queen Victoria Building), as well as Town Hall being the closest railway station to walk down to Darling Harbour. Museum station is close to Hyde Park, as well, and the Australian Museum. If walking is an issue from Town Hall station you can also catch the Monorail which takes you around a small section of the city including Darling Harbour and the Powerhouse Museum. From Central Station you can catch a bus anywhere or the Light Rail down to Haymarket for shopping and access to Chinatown, as well as another stop point for the Powerhouse Museum. If you wish to take all or most of these options I'd suggest the Daytripper ticket, which covers rail travel all over the CityRail network (which includes Macarthur for our friend from Mittagong), government buses and ferries (not JetCat though). You can also get a CityHopper ticket which covers rail travel all over the city only meaning all the stations I've mentioned, plus up to North Sydney (means you can catch a train across to Milsons Point and go to Luna Park) and east to Bondi Junction. For more information including a Fare Calculator, Timetables and a Network map (of all 3230km of track we have) visit: http://www.cityrail.info
