- real Shipping costs, average 20% of total invoice...depending on how heavy it is, and how much you are overcharging the customer... The simplest method would be to find the heaviest object you would ship and figure freight charges based on shipping that object, from LA to NY...and use that as your flat rate....
- Well, not knowing what it is that you intend to ship, I can only guess at an answer. USPS offers 4 different sizes of Flat Rate Priority Mail boxes. You can get the boxes at no charge. The Flat Rates are: Small=$4.95 Medium(2 sizes)=$10.35 Large=$13.95 The nice thing is that it does not matter what the weight is or the Zone. Up to 70 pounds, as long as it fits inside the confines of the box without excessively bulging, will ship anywhere for that price. One other perk. If you print your shipping labels online at usps.com, you receive a discount on the postage as well as having Delivery Confirmation included at no additional charge. Retail Delivery Confirmation on Priority Mail is usually 70ยข. Commercial rates are: Small=$4.75 Medium=$9.67 Large=$13.27 You may also schedule a Carrier Pick-up at usps.com, for the next day, and the USPS will pick up any number of packages that you have ready to go. This may simplify your shipping process although your $8 charge seems very low.
