Location Transport

What is the best location for my garage refrigerator?

I am getting a garage refrigerator and trying to determine the best location in my garage. I am located in NC and have a standard two car garage. The door in the middle of the back wall of the garage enters the kitchen. Should I avoid placing the refrigerator away from the side walls of the garage due to the weather? Should I place the refrigerator as close to the kitchen entry as possible? Placement will obviously determine the direction the refrigerator door opens. Does it make sense to have a counter or table next to the refrigerator? Any suggestions would be appreciated since I am trying to rearrange my garage fo the delivery of the refrigerator. I am not concerned if I need to run a new outlet in the garage for the refrigerator.

  1. Put the refrigerator where it's the most accessible, if you plan to use it frequently. I have mine between the door to the house and the door to my back yard. I keep all of my beverages in it. This makes it convenient when I'm having a fire in my pit to reach in and grab a beer. Hope this helps.
  2. I keep an extra one in my garage. I live in the north where the temps can get very low. My concern was to make sure it didn't get alot of sun light in the summer months. So, keep it close to the kitchen if you'd like as long as it's not getting hit with sun light all day from a window or something. And, it is by outside walls! And, my husband's wooden, built-in work bench is right beside it and I'm glad for that when I need to put things away in it, so a counter by yours would be a good thing too.
  3. The best place for a refrigerator is near an outlet. A lot of garages these days only have one outlet...which makes no sense at all because it is nice to have an outlet for a refrigerator and one for tools and a vacuum. I don't think it matters if it is near a wall. Nor will it matter if it is closer to the kitchen...a couple extra steps isn't going to hurt...especially if the food has to thaw anyway. Near a table is good because it will give you the ability to put groceries down and place them in the fridge, or take them out and reorganize your fridge.
