How do I transfer to a different location within my company?

I work in the pharmacy at a chain retail drugstore. I would like to transfer to a different store location. Do I speak with my current store manager about it or should I go speak to the manager of the location that I wish to transfer to?

1. If you do not have a human resources representative, then you should talk to whoever is your current manager. They will get you any necessary information for you to transfer, and get you talking to the right people. But remember, an HR would be your first choice!
2. Speak to your Manager. Let him or her know that you need additional work hours. It might be possible to arrange your schedule so that you can work part time at both stores. Example: M-W at store #1 T-F at store #2 The situation may not be any better at the other store. The Pharmacy Technicians that currently work there may be in the same situation (limited work hours). Consider applying for a position at other drug stores (other than the chain retailer you currently work for) if your current employer can not or is unwilling to find a satisfactory solution. PS - Good luck on passing the PTCE when you take the exam in October!
