Is there free software so you can track someones cell phone like the location they are in?

Is there free software where you can track someones cell phone like in the location they are in cause i need to be in contact with my kid just in case he is lost or somethin bad happens and i got the location of wheres he is at so does anyone have any free software to track a cell phone that works thank you so much =)
