Nearest public transport stops to NASA and George Ranch Historical Park?

Hi, Will be staying in the Shersaton Houston Brookhollow on North Loop West Freeway near Galleria area. I'm aware that there are no public transport stops at either NASA or the George Ranch Historical Park but what's the nearest a bus or light rail will get you to either (can take a cab the rest of the way!) Oh and forgot the Reliant Stadium too. Any help would be great. Brian.

  1. Rent a car. Light rail is a 7.5 mile track that goes north and south between downtown and the Medical Center. It goes nowhere near most of the destinations you list. George Ranch is nowhere near ANY bus or transit or anything. It is a ranch, and it is in the middle of nowhere. Even if you get dropped off at the visitors entrance for NASA you'll still have to walk over half a mile to the visitors center. No cabs. As for Reliant Stadium, from your hotel walk about a mile to the intersection of Gessner Road and Hempstead Highway. Take the 36 bus downtown. Transfer to the Metrorail. It stops outside the stadium. Oh, wait. The 36 bus doesn't go near you on Sunday. Hang on. Take the 50 bus inbound. You'll need to take a cab to Kingswood and 290 W. Hell, take a cab to the Metrorail and take the toy train to the stadium. It'll be faster The cab fare will be about $25 before tip. Aside from the football game, really and truly, RENT A CAR.Houston is huge and is not conducive to bus travel. Cabs are hideously expensive. For the price of a couple of cab rides you could rent a car for a few days.
  2. metro 246 goes fairly near NASA. you need to walk a little bit. but now it's cooler so it's okay.
  3. Definitely... rent a car.
  4. William K is right. You will definitely want a car & a GPS system.
  5. Brian, you really need to rent a car when coming to Houston. We are bigger than the entire state of Rhode Island and that does not include the entire metro area.
