Is it better to use public transportation in cities other than a car?
I'm not used to life in big cities but plan on moving to one to attend a university. I have friends who live in San Francisco, Boston and some other places and they use Transits and subways other than a car for whatever reasons. Is it generally better to use public transportation than to buy a car?

- Yes, and much cheaper considering the prices of insurance and parking.
- If you have access to public transportation, then you should definitely use it. it saves you money and it also helps the environment by 1 less car burning gas.
- I'm going to college in SF and I don't drive myself anywhere. Whenever I go anywhere it's always on BART or Muni, and if I ever need to trip down to LS or Sacramento I hop on Amtrak. I personally save hundreds of dollars a month not having to pay auto insurance and constantly filling up my gas tank. It's better for the environment. I've also met a lot of interesting people since I've converted to full communal transportation. My brother in Sac does the same thing, going to Sac State and I don't think he's having any problems getting around where he needs to go.
