Location Transport

Public Transportation from Marietta to Atlanta: How annoying is it?

I'd love to live in Marietta (or Smyrna), but I'd prefer to rely on public transportation and biking than use a car. Do you live in either area or even further outside the perimeter? Do you regularly bus or bike to Atlanta proper (or at least a MARTA rail station)? Please share your opinions!!! Thanks!

  1. I live in Marietta, and quite simply, our public transportation system stinks. The main Terminal is located on the South Loop, just of U.S.41, close to where Fairground Street intersects the Loop. If you're in Smyrna, you would probably have to grab a bus to the Terminal, and then make a change there to go downtown Atlanta. The closest MARTA Station is at Perimeter Mall, and by the time you drive there, and pay for parking, you might as well drive into town. Search on-line for the Cobb Community Transit Authority for schedules, routes, etc. I live in East Cobb and whenever we go into town to catch a Braves or Falcons game, or a concert, we go to the Perimeter Mall Station and use MARTA and it works great. If the two systems could ever get their act together and do things like: create a rail line North to Town Center Mall; and give us routes that people can use to get to locations we want to go to, then they're never going to be successful. Good Luck! Hope it works for you.
