Location Transport

Does anyone know of a good campsite in Sydney, Australia?

I need one that has good public transport to the center of Sydney.

  1. you cannot camp IN Sydney
  2. Lancove River tourist park, 10 ks from Sydney http://www.lanecoverivertouristpark.com.au/
  3. Cockatoo Island The campsite is Sydney's only central camping ground and is located on the island's waterfront, just eight minutes by river cat from Circular Quay in the centre of Sydney. Cockatoo Island Camping is a world first - a waterfront campsite in the midst of a city. Cockatoo Island Camping is a campsite on a national heritage-listed island in the middle of the world's most beautiful harbour. Enjoy a barbecue as the sun sets over the water. Sleep under the shadows of dormant cranes and chimneys. Watch the sunrise over the Sydney Harbour Bridge. A camping experience like no other with the city at your doorstep. All sites have harbour views. A new campground kitchen and amenities block have been provided for guests' enjoyment. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance by phone, fax or email. Check the website for available camping facilities and ferry timetables.
  4. Yeah but who can afford cockatoo island? Assuming it's any decent kind of year ie: not pissing down, like it is right now backpackers are probably safer than gambling on the weather, and as much as I hate the north side, the answer' with Lane Cove might be your best bet
