Have you ever "lost situational awareness" during a "heated discussion"?

An inquiry has begun after a US plane heading from San Diego to Minneapolis missed the airport it was meant to land at by 150 miles (240km). Contact with the Northwest Airlines plane was lost for an hour as it flew at 37,000ft. The crew later told investigators they had become distracted during "heated discussions". The plane, carrying 147 passengers, landed safely at Minneapolis after contact was finally resumed. A statement released by the National Transportation Safety Board said: "The crew stated they were in a heated discussion over airline policy and lost situational awareness." http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8321748.stm I'll try finding a story about a space cadet for you dave.

  1. I thought this was going to be a question about Nick Griffin!
  2. "Losing situational awareness" is not a good thing in airline pilots. Perhaps they need to mention it in their job adverts. I think they were asleep.
  3. Just another Americanisation of the English language..the same as asking people to 'deplane' after we landed at Chicago last year....
  4. Yes... but not whilst flying a plane.
  5. I was having a heated debate on a motorway and drove straight past the exit I needed..It cost me another 20 miles
  6. Sounds more like they were having sex if you ask me!
  7. My guess is they were having sex in the cockpit.....That would cause "situational awareness"
  8. Must of been an alien abduction.
  9. I don't have heated discussions with anyone anymore, and I remain constantly vigil over my situation and surroundings. I am not going to create a situation just to air my views on any topic. My views on a topic, are my views alone, if you don't like it, then you can lump it, I don't care. But I am not going to argue about it.
