would this be considered an average wage in canada?

1600 canadian dollars a month after tax. If you earned that wage and you had no rent/mortgage to pay for how well would you live(obviously you would need to cover all the other expenses like bills, food etc)? also you wouldn't be driving you use public transport.

  1. With no rent or mortgage and no car to pay for, you'd be doing okay. Depending, of course, on what kind of bills you're paying but if you had no debts like credit cards to pay, or if you don't have anyone else to support, there's no reason why you wouldn't have money left over after paying for essential things. Maybe quite a lot left over if you're careful.
  2. Well, that's not a great wage, but if you aren't paying rent, I guess you would be okay.
  3. Well, that works out to $19,200 per year, which would be considered a very low wage, and would probably make you eligible for welfare. Considering that you don't have to pay for your housing or a car though, $19,200 a year could be a lot of money! I expect a single person would spend an average of $50 a month for public transit, spend $500 a month on food, pay $30 for a cellphone, and maybe $200 for other bills and expenses. So that would still leave you with lots of leftover spending money, which is pretty good.
  4. It would be ok if you don't have to pay rent and use public transportation.
