- 1. its alright 2. it gets really cold like... -30 degrees Celsius 3. Marijuana is illegal to sell and grow, but they won't do anything if you smoke it. 4. Buses? they are okay, very crowded, there aren't many subways only in bigger cities such as Toronto 5. Buffalo, NY is the closest U.S city to southern Ontario.
- It all depends on where you live & remember that Canada is the second largest country in the world. Temperatures vary from province to province. Genarally speaking most of the major cities have either underground subway system, sky train, street cars ( trams) or simply public buses besides cabs & rickshaws ( in summer). Marijuana is decriminalized & in Toronto, there are 3 official cafes where you can smoke freely but they don't sell it. The coldest temperature last winter was -65 C ( with wind chill factor) in Saskachewan. The closest U.S.border city to Toronto is Buiffalo which is about one & a half hour drive. Welcome to the White North!!!
- You don't say what part of Canada you are going to (perhaps you haven't decided where you will go yet), but the weather tends to be warmer in the Vancouver and Victoria area. In Vancouver there are cafes where you can smoke, but buying marijuana is not allowed on premises. My understanding is that possession of small quantities is not illegal, but if you were caught smoking it, I am not certain what the law would do. Seattle would be the closest US city if you end up on the West Coast. Your question on public transit is very general - do you mean to get across the country, or within a city? Across the country mostly there is Greyhound (cheap), or ViaRail (which is not cheap), but due to the distances involved, people tend to fly if they are going several provinces away. If you are talking more specifically within a city, please let us know which city you are looking at.
