Location Transport

Best areas to live in Ottawa, Canada?

Which areas are close to shops/restaurants/bars/parks, that are busy but friendly and safe? Also, close to public transport, buses and/or trains? Thanks! :)

  1. Westboro is a pretty nice neighbourhood. Clean, safe, lots of shops and cafes along Richmond Rd., and plenty of trees. Easy access to the Transitway, which is a bus-only roadway with rapid access to downtown, and 2 stops away from the O-Train- not that the train is particularly useful, unless you're a Carleton student. Bank Street Promenade is a pretty happening place to live too; plenty of bars and restaurants, maybe a bit less safe than Westboro and more noisy too. Frequent buses go down Bank Street but traffic is slow. Still, better for a younger crowd than Westboro, I would say. South Keys is conveniently next to the Greenboro O-Train stop, and has a fair amount of restaurants, parks and shops, but not exactly a safe neighbourhood. Other neighborhoods like Barrhaven, Kanata and Orleans are great family-raising areas, but are not fun or close to downtown.
