What is the cheapest and easiest way to get from Newark to La Guardia Airport using public transportation?

I have a hotel in Newark New Jersey right next to the airport and my friend is flying to La Guardia, what is the easiest and cheapest way to get from around my hotel to La Guardia using public transportation? Thank you.

4. Here's how to get from EWR to LGA. Step 1: take a free hotel shuttle bus, where available, from your hotel to the Newark Airtrain station P4. Step 2: take the Airtrain from the terminal to the Newark-Liberty International Airport train station. Step 3: at the Newark-Liberty International Airport train station, purchase a one way NJ Transit ticket from EWR to Penn Station New York and take any New York City-bound (eastbound) train from there to New York Penn Station. A one way ticket on NJ Transit from EWR to New York Penn Station will cost you $15 each way ($30 round trip). Step 3: transfer at Penn Station to the New York City subway. Take the Queens-bound eastbound "E" train (Blue Line on the subway map) from Penn Station to Roosevelt Avenue-Jackson Heights. Step 4: at Roosevelt Avenue-Jackson Heights, transfer to the Q33, which will take you to Main Terminal of LaGuardia Airport. If your friend is landing at the near by Marine Air Terminal building =, you can take the Q47 bus from the Roosevelt Avenue subway station.
