What is the location is of the Mitochondrion in our genes?

Hi, i need to know where the location is of the Mitochondrion which holds Mitochondrial DNA, i know that it can only be inherited from he mother but what is the location of it in our genes, is it on the X chromosome or on every chromosome we have. Thanks for the help.

  1. In cell biology, a mitochondrion (plural mitochondria) is a membrane-enclosed organelle found in most eukaryotic cells.
  2. It isn't on any chromasome. Mitochondria are like little cells that live inside our bigger cells. They have cell membranes, and they have DNA of their own---inside of them. Supposedly, they are descended from an independent living cell that got "eaten" by a bigger cell, but instead of being digested, the littler cell managed to thrive inside the bigger one, and live in symbiosis with it. The reason you only inherit mitochondrial DNA from your mother is because all of the mitochondria in an embryo come from the ovum. A sperm cell (which does not need to survive for more than a day or two) is too small to have any mitochondria of its own.
