Did you know that bus drivers in london are on £500-£700 a week!? Why!?

Should they really be getting paid this much when most of them cant even do thier jobs properly and the public are getting ripped of by transport for london ?? Also.... tube and train drivers earn much more than that. They earn more than nurses!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Would you want to drive a bus around London? I don't think the transport costs are that bad comparison to some other cities.
  2. If the salary is so good why don't you apply for a job? Or wouldn't you do it? They have very strong unions and always have had. Many people earn more money than nurses for jobs with far less or no responsibilty - but that's another matter.
  3. It's a lot of money, but then have you seen the cost of housing in London? It's bloody insane. With the difference in living costs, I'd sooner drive a bus in Manchester for 8 quid an hour than one in London for 16 quid an hour. And the Tube and train drivers in London only earn about £8,000 a year more than Northern Rail, Manchester Metrolink, and Tyne and Wear Metro drivers, which doesn't in any way compensate for the increased housing costs.
  4. The number of drivers that get attacked usually because the person doesn't have any money to buy a ticket is quite high. Bus drivers get spat at, threatened, intimidated and even assaulted. They do a difficult job and always fear being attacked. Would you drive a bus knowing one day you could possibly lose your sight or get stabbed? I admit nurses do a good job and put their lives at risk also. Here is a few ways to save money. If you use both buses and tube buy weekly/monthly travel cards or if you use the buses only buy a one day bus pass/weekly/monthly bus passes. If you get income support you get half price bus and tram fares if you use oyster and get yourself a discount card. There is also oyster for your daily/weekly/monthly tickets and you can also use oyster prepay.
  5. The same could be said for football / soccer players when all they do is kick a round peice of leather around and most of them cant even do that properly either !! they just fall to the ground holding their face when they get touched in the shin by a feather !! at least the bus drivers are doing something useful for others !!! football isnt really a sport its a pantomime !!!
  6. Driving in London is hard in a car let alone a bus and I think they deserve every penny.Tube drivers on the other hand are vastly overpaid for what is a very easy job. Militant trade unions have forced transport bosses to pay huge wages because without the tube London is crippled and the unions know it.
  7. If they were paid less, there's no guarantee that other people would be paid more. Public transportation is tough work. You have to deal with tons of rude people everyday, the repetitive motion of driving can cause carpal tunnel, and the bouncing of the seat can cause back problems. It's also incredibly boring.
  8. Why?? because they are that's why. That is not their basic pay - that is what they can earn with overtime and shift allowances. If you are jealous then go and work as a bus driver - you would probably last a week if that. "they earn more than nurses", yes they do. Blame the government for not paying the nurses more - oh if they do give nurses the same pay are you willing to pay the large amount of extra tax for it??
  9. they deserve more !
