Location Transport

How much would it cost to transport a car?

I'm wondering approximately how much it would cost me to have a car transported from Atlanta, GA to West Palm Beach, FL (about 600 miles.) I don't really feel like going to the websites that will contact you with a quote - they like to blow up your phone and email. Thanks!

  1. most companies are gonna charge between a $1.50 -$3 a mile its gonna be cheaper for you to drive it then have someone haul it that far . you could drive it in a less then a day .
  2. I cannot give you a quote over this forum. But if you send an email to info@movemyarnow.com I can give you the actual quote to move your car. Prices change on a weekly basis and it never costs the same year after year. I also promise you won't get tons of emails and phone calls. You send one email and I reply once that is all. Also on the email all you need to list is the city and state for the pickup and delivery, what kind of car and around what dates you want to move. And if that is not enough to convince you all I can do is give you a ball park figure for THIS weeks car move cost. SUV - 600 Reg Car - 500 Prices change from season to season. Your decision.
  3. What it costs you depends upon a number of factors. Most will cost you more than the cost to drive the distance. This cost will be from three to five times the cost to drive that distance. Some cost even more. The least expensive means would be if you were making the trip yourself at the same time, and used the train instead of flying. When taking a train you can have the company also haul your car as well. It just becomes an extra part of your 'luggage', to haul for you at an extra charge. The cost for this is about the same as driving, but may have to ship a day, or so earlier so it will be there for your arrival. Sometimes it will be transported at the same time. It just all depends upon the particular rail service used, and their schedules as well as the type of trains used. There is no good way for you to get good prices online. You must plan this type of endeavor by use of your phone, and calling each of the railroads that service your area. Rail service is by far the least expensive if you make the arrangements through that rail service, and not a company that does it for you. Those companies make their money by charging you the cost of road miles instead of rail miles. There is a big difference. Fuel and maintenance costs are much higher, so charges are much higher. Forget the Internet if you want to cut costs. Not even the railroads will give you much help online unless you are a shipper registered with them. A friend took her vacation last year at a distance of six hundred miles from her home. She didn't want to drive, but wanted her car when she got there. She was going to only be visiting for three weeks. She made the arrangements for her car to be transported by the railroad service she used, and found the cost to be just under the cost for her to drive it herself. She said it was a wonderful, no hassle way that she would not have even known about if she had not talked to the person at the rail service, and asked about shipping her car at the same time. At any rate, to find the very least cost to you, you will have to do some real shopping yourself. What you might find online would be 'shaky' at best. What kind of insurance would an online company carry, and how would you actually know? What is their record history? What are their credentials? Has the company been in business in the U.S. for long? Online alone, how would you know?
