Location Transport

Used car buying advice for a first time car buyer and an international student. Please help with any ideas?

I'm a student in Idaho n looking out to buy my first car. I'm looking to spend no more than $1500 for a reliable means of transport. I need to also know what the legal and maximum reliable millage is for a Dodge Caravan or any minivan in Idaho. Please help with ideas. I'm an international student and know nothing about buying a car and much less about all the numerous laws that come with owning a car in the US.

  1. To me, a car can go pass 200,000 without a major break down. But it depend on the owner if they have taken care of it. If the minivan is messy with things missing then you'll know what kind of the owner they are. If they keep a nice record of repairs and stuff then it maybe a good buy.
  2. You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here - carquotes.fateback.com
  3. Hopefully you are studying auto repair because 1500 dollars, and "reliable means of transport" are contradictions in terms. For that kind of money, you're looking at a "beater" that's going to need work.
