How does TNT or DHL shipping work?

Are these companies safe for shipping internationally? Such as buying an item from a private seller in another country? What about buyer protection? Do they work like this: http://www.eutntsolutions.com/details.html ? So is my money safe when buying from through these companies? Thanks I was sent this address at first, but it doesnt work. 1. I don't trust the site. It was created 10/19/2009. The site claims to be in the UK, but the registration address is Atlanta, GA. The registration email is a FREE yahoo account. The street address is a private mailbox. The area code for the registration is Houston, TX. The addresses to TNT sites belong to other companies...etc. The REAL website is www.TNT.com
2. I have never heard of TNT, but DHL is a very reputable shipping company and yes, they do ship internationally, all over the world in fact. I am overseas and I utilize their service through a parcel forwarding company called BongoUS. This is so I can pay with my own credit card and have the currency conversion done automatically, also so that I am protected as a buyer. What is good about the combo of DHL and BongoUS is that http://www.bongous.com protects my personal info, items, etc. and I still get the benefits of DHL like delivery confirmation which is a MUST in my book for international shipping.
